Why did you choose occupational therapy?
Though I didn't realize it at the time, I was strongly influenced by my parent's when picking my profession. My dad is a rehabilitation doctor, and my mom is a psychologist. So, when you consider that occupational therapy is a rehabilitation specialty founded by psychologists, it's pretty easy to see how I came to find and love a service-based profession. Modeled after them, I wanted a job that didn't feel like work, a job that gave me personal meaning and fulfillment.
Why did you start Lotus Pediatric Therapy?
After graduate school, I worked for an outpatient pediatric clinic as an occupational therapist. Through working with kids and families, I started to rediscover the world through a child’s eyes, and it brought me a new lightness and such joy. About two years into working in outpatient pediatrics, I wanted to try something new. My passion cultivated by my parents for working with people, of all ages, pushed me to venture to new opportunities.
I left my outpatient pediatric job and briefly worked as an occupational therapist with adults in a hospital setting. My love for working with children and families remained though, and thus the idea for Lotus Pediatric Therapy was inspired - a way for me to work with kids and adults. I created the services of Lotus Pediatric Therapy based on community needs I saw while working in outpatient pediatrics. A need for more support options in home and community settings. A need for more guidance in coordinating services among facilities and managing a child's overall plan of care.

If you look at the clothes in my closet, the décor in my home, or the doodles in my planner, you’ll easily see that I try to incorporate flowers into all parts of my life. When thinking about what messages I wanted this business to represent along with a symbol that could embody these ideas, I naturally thought of the different meanings of flowers. The meaning of the lotus, enlightenment and self-regeneration, fits the messages of Lotus Pediatric Therapy
It is my intention that our partnership brings you and your family closer to enlightenment, toward a greater understanding about yourself and others. I hope that my services give you the resources you need for self-regeneration. You might ask, how is it self-regeneration if I’m using your services? While yes, I will play an active role in supporting you toward your goals, I will also work to empower you as the agent of change. I largely view my role as a teammate who strives to maximize your strengths and help you find the enlightenment that you already carry.
